CorePower Yoga Instructor Spotlight: Katie St. Hilaire
At Shops Around Lenox, we’re fortunate to have some of the best fitness experts in the business at our studios. We’re excited to give you a closer look at instructors from SoulCycle and CorePower Yoga with our new Instructor Spotlight Series.
Meet Katie, one of the talented yogis at CorePower Yoga. CorePower has a wide range of yoga classes to push and strengthen your fitness routine – perfect for beginners and experts. Let’s get to know what Katie is up to, in and out of the studio:
Q: Where are you from originally?
A: I was born in Toronto and moved to Atlanta when I was in second grade. Since then, Atlanta has always been home.
Q: Favorite spot to grab lunch, dinner or a snack at Shops Around Lenox?
A: For lunch and dinner it is always Flower Child. For a pick me up before or after yoga it’s always Root Juice!
Q: What are the must-have essentials for your gym bag?
A: Water, sunscreen and my yoga mat are always in my gym bag!
Q: Favorite non-yoga work out?
A: If I am not on my yoga mat (practicing or teaching), you can usually find me in the gym weight training or running.
Q: When I’m not at CorePower Yoga, I am…
A: Playing Uber to my 15 year old daughter!
Q: What is your favorite source of fitness inspo?
A: Lululemon, Alo Yoga…really any brand that showcases inclusivity and an “everyone is welcome” attitude!
Q: Do you have any post class rituals?
A: At the end of all my classes I always read an inspirational quote. I have had so many people tell me that that quote was exactly what they needed to hear at that moment and I love being able to touch people in that way.
Q: Favorite athletic brand to wear while practicing?
A: Always Lululemon!
Q: What advice would you give to a first-time student at CorePower?
A: Yoga is not about being perfect or getting it exactly right. It is about showing up and meeting yourself exactly where you are that day. Be yourself. Have fun and take breaks when you need it. Yoga is for you and no one else.
Q: What makes your CorePower class experience different from other studios?
A: No class is the same. Each teacher is encouraged to bring themselves to class and show up authentically and that means no two classes are the same. It allows people the flexibility to find the right class or teacher for them and not have to feel like they have to fit into a certain box.
Q: What inspired you to become a CorePower instructor?
A: The inclusivity of CorePower as opposed to exclusivity that sometimes comes with yoga. Everyone is welcome and you can find your unique voice and that is welcomed regardless of whether there is one person in your class or thirty! Everyone who works for CorePower Yoga wants to be there and it shows. The CorePower studio is my happy place and the place I teach to hopefully make it someone else’s happy place.
Q: Favorite pump-up song/artist to flow to?
A: If you have taken my classes at all you know that Lose Yourself by Eminem is almost always my core song! Other than that, Florence and the Machine, Fleetwood Mac,The Revivalists…pretty much Spotify is my best friend!
Q: What are three words that best describe your teaching style?
A: Authentic, Challenging and Positive
